How to Get Around Town
The cheapest way to get around town is by Metro and Metrobus. The Metro system is easy to use. The hotel is just steps away from the Red Line. The Woodley Park station is two stops away from Metro Center and three stops from Gallery Place, the two main transfer stations on the Red Line to the other lines in the Metro system. Taking a few moments to learn how to navigate the system, and you'll be rewarded with a very convenient way to see many of the sights around Washington.
Metro
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority web site contains detailed information about the Metro (subway) system and the bus system. The site contains Metro maps, neighborhood maps, bus routes, fare information, and system service hours.
Taxi

Washington boasts its fair share of gay and lesbian bars and clubs. There's something for every taste or lack thereof. The Metro Weekly bar guide should give you the undercover intelligence you need to scope out the local scene. There are only about a million things to do in town. This is only a sampling, and this is a good place to start for ideas. Come a couple of days early and stay a few days late. Washington DC truly is a dazzling capital city! You haven't really visited Washington DC unless you've walked up and down the National Mall, poking your head into its many museums. The Smithsonian Institution is truly a national treasure, and you should enjoy its splendor. Be sure to get to the smaller museums; they often are much less crowded, and you'll be surprised and amazed at what you discover. Some of the lesser known Smithsonian museums include the Anacostia Community Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, The National Postal Museum, and the Renwick Gallery. Also consider renting a car or taking the Metro and taxi to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. It's part of the Air and Space Museum. Of course, Washington is full of other gems of museums. Organize some sightseeing around these: Washington has a great theatre scene. Check out these venues, buy some tickets.
